Since I was young, my mother instilled in me a love of education and travel. Growing up I hoped for chances to use these two passions together and found that the Peace Corps would help me do that. I worked as a special education assistant for a local school system through most of my college career, which gave me the chance to learn the education world and learn through experience.
In May 2017 I graduate with a Bachelor degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I am very grateful to this program, which has given me the chance to discover passions and interests outside of the field of education and make me a more well-rounded individual. I entered this program as a stepping stone to a Graduate Degree in Education, which I will most likely do after my service in the Peace Corps.
Since my first mission trip at the age of 7, I have had the heart for the reaching out to others. Over the years I have had the chance to do local, national, global missions through various organizations. I have learned many things throughout these trips, but most importantly I have learned that the best way to reach someone is by being present and listening to them.
